Well, it is finally here. We are ready for the big morning/day. The kids have been bouncing off the wall since we got back from church. I think they are a tad bit excited. We definitely need this positive right now.
We got the news Tuesday that we were hoping not to get. TJ was also diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It has not even been a year since Chy was diagnosed. The odds of his having the antibodies were only 4% higher than the general population. The odds of him actually getting it were even smaller. Wow, we were not ready for the news. We are on an emotional rollercoaster right now. Because he was in a study testing siblings of Type 1 patients, they caught it about 3-4 months earlier than it is usually discovered. So he hasn’t been sick at all, but he started testing regularly and the background insulin shots. We have another appointment next Friday, so we will see what other options for treatment may be available.
We are looking forward to spending time with our dear friends the Wankes next week. Lots of fun!!!
