As many of you know, we have had an roller coaster of a year and an half. In April of 2010, Chyanne was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. We had a sharp learning curve about this horrible disease. In hopes of helping Chy, we entered her in drug study in Utah, which took up most of last summer. She had several infusions of a test drug. However, it has not produced any positive results for her, but a few worldwide did extremely well. Chy continues the daily struggle to control the disease that is trying to to kill her.
In the fall of 2010, we volunteered Sydney and Tristan for sibling studies through TrialNet. After several months of Tristan "failing" different tests, he was also diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes just before Christmas. WOW. We were knocked to the ground once again. He was willing to try a trial as well. Tristan completed all the preliminary blood work and physical tests, but the trial was canceled before he could complete the first infusion. However, many studies are still continuing, so we have hope that a cure is possible. I am blessed that research into this disease has found funding, or I would be without two beautiful children.
Tristan is an incredible kid and has been inspired to help. Tristan is forming a Walk for the Cure team; he is naming his team the Sharp Shooters! He is the team leader, since this was his idea. I am just support! You can join his team to help him raise money or just donate a few dollars. Our local walk is Sept 17th, and he will be collecting donations. He has a website at the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) which accepts cards. If you want to send cash, you can just mail it to him.
