Well, Friday didn’t start off all that bad, but . . .
Syd volunteered to play for another Extreme soccer team who was low on players for a local tournament. Ten minutes before the end of the game, her leg got caught up on an opponent, and she went down. She tried to walk it off, but minutes later she was back on the ground. Her knee totally gave way. I was having fit on the sidelines when she was still trying to play, when she obviously was seriously hurt. Damn, she’s tough, but . . . grrrrr. (Mama bear, does not like it!) Anyway, the other Extreme team’s coach carries her off the field, and thank goodness, her coach, Vince B., was there too. He called his neighbor who is an orthopedic doctor over to look at her knee. (Syd has played with the doctor’s daughter on her indoor soccer team.) We got to ride on the golf cart to the main fields, where he looked at it. The ACL wasn’t torn, but we need to wait a week to see if it is the meniscus or another smaller tendon under the knee. If she still is hurting by the end of this week, he will write us an order for an MRI. And go from there. Whew! Praying and keeping our fingers crossed that it will heal fast. Right now, she is icing, “aleve”ing, and elevating. Vince brought cookies and crutches for her, so she has been taking it easy!
Tristan played at the park with his buddies, and his team kicked butt at his flag football game (which I didn’t get to see ) What a Friday night!
Saturday was much better. Tristan and Chy has their musical recitals. They were awesome, of course. Tim forgot the camcorder so no video, but Chy rocked it! Tristan has only been playing viola for six months, so he did awesome under the pressure.
After the recital, Tim had to work. He is working overtime this week, so we won’t be seeing much of him. I took the musicians shopping and to Cold Stone! TJ and Chy combined their monetary resources. They bought mentos rocket items and a badminton set.
They had friends over and made a very sticky mess, but had lots of fun! It was much better day!
Today, Chy and TJ played with friends, and Tim and I shopped for the week. Syd has been resting and doing homework.
Two more weeks of school, and the summer official starts. I am not sure I am ready for that either! Time flies whether your having fun or not!! Here’s to a better week!
